セロ弾きのゴーシュの動物達 ｜ ２０２２年
I’ve been interested in this story for many years. When my child started playing the cello at age 7, I often read this book to my child. So I was very enthusiastic to create several SocksArt animals from this story: Calico Cat, Raccoon, Mice, and a Cuckoo, including different props. “Calico Cat” has an unripe green tomato. “Raccoon” has drum sticks and musical notes. And, a sick “Baby Mouse” has an icepack with red cross on her head. I went to a Uniqlo store in search of unique patterns for the Cuckoo’s belly and found an interesting striped socks with separate toes. This separate toe part was used for the cuckoo’s tail. I also thought the Cuckoo would be handsome with a beret. The raccoon is quite different between a Japanese and an American raccoon. This SocksArt raccoon is a mixture of both, and wears a straw hat.
宮沢賢治のお話は好きで、一生がチェロを学び始めると、この本を読み聞かせたりもしていました。このお話に登場する動物達のソックスアートを作っていたときは、本当に熱中してしまいました。小道具にも少し工夫を凝らし、みけねこには、熟れていない緑のトマトを添え、たぬきにはバチと楽譜を加え、病気の赤ちゃんネズミには、赤十字が付いた氷嚢を頭にのせました。かっこうのお腹に使う縞の靴下を探しにユニクロのお店に出むくと、運よく、縞模様に五本指の靴下が見つかりました。かっこうに最適で、五本指の部分は、尻尾として利用しました。たぬきのイメージは、日本とアメリカでは、違っていますが、このソックスアートのたぬきは、両国のイメージをミックスしています。すげ笠帽子で、日本的なイメージを強調しています。
