Since I enjoyed making SocksArt animals, I wanted to create more. So, I created a mule and a dog, from the books that I worked with Priscilla Karant, “Gogo” and “One-eyed Jack”. I sent those SocksArt animals to Priscilla as a special thank you gift.
ソックスアートの制作がとても楽しかったので、引き続き、他の動物達も作ってみようと思い、まず私自身がイラストを担当した二つの物語、「ゴゴ」と「片目のジャック」から、ラバと犬を作り、著者のプリシラに贈りました。
Mule from the story “Gogo” | 2020
This big bellied mule with enormous eyelashes is a character from the story “Gogo”, written by Priscilla Karant and illustrated by myself. Priscilla wrote this adventurous story of her father’s mule for her son Emile. The story takes place at the Central Park carousel in New York City. You can enjoy a video version of this story on YouTube that was translated in nine different languages. Priscilla’s students at New York University collaborated on the translations in their native languages and recorded the stories using their own voices.
セントラルパークのメリーゴーランドでのお話。樽のように大きなお腹と長いまつ毛を持ったラバの「ゴゴ」が、この話のキャラクター。著者のプリシラ・カラントは、彼女の父親が飼っていた、実在したラバのゴゴを登場させた話を息子のエミールの為に作りあげました。私は、イラストを担当し、YouTubeで、９カ国語に翻訳されたビデオでこのお話を楽しむことができます。これは長年にわたり、ニューヨーク大学で教えているプリシラの生徒達が自国の言語に翻訳し録音した動画です。
Dog from the story “One-Eyed Jack” | 2020
Based on a true story about a stray dog named One-eyed Jack who befriended Priscilla’s father and his animal companions. This stray dog found love, food, and a community of animals that changed his life. Written by Priscilla Karant and illustrated by myself. プリシラの父親が飼っていた動物達の実話をもとにし、片目で野良犬だった犬が、愛情や食べ物、そして他の動物の仲間達を得て、幸せな生活へと移り変わっていったという話。著者はプリシラ・カラント。私は、イラスト担当し、YouTubeで、英語・日本語・スペイン語に翻訳されたビデオを楽しむことができます。
