In the summer of 2019, I worked with my friend to make a puppet show with characters from the story “The Town Musician of Bremen”. I was looking for a material to use to create the puppets and went to Manhattan to investigate some possibilities. While I was visiting a Uniqlo store, I came across colorful men’s socks that I could use perfectly for the animals: donkey, dog, cat and rooster. Thus, SocksArt animals originated with the characters of a Donkey, Dog, Cat, and Rooster.
２０１９年の夏、友人と二人で、「ブレーメンの音楽隊」の人形劇の人形作りをしました。人形劇に登場する動物達の素材を探し求めて、マンハッタンに出向き、ユニクロのお店の紳士用靴下売り場で、カラフルなソックスに出会いました。色とりどりの伸縮性に富む素材は人形制作にぴったりで、ロバ・犬・ねこ・にわとりをユニクロの靴下で作り始めたことが、私のソックスアートの根源となります。
