After I read Haruki Murakami’s recently published novel “The Tale of Kaho”, I immediately decided to create a version of the anteater that appeared in the story.
Haruki Murakami is one of my favorite authors. Last May, I visited the Haruki Murakami Library in Waseda, Tokyo. I used a photo of the library’s entrance canopy as a background image for the video.
“The Tale of Kaho" is Murakami’s first long-form novel with a female protagonist. Kaho is a children's book author, a profession I once sought out while I was an art student... Coincidentally, Musashi-sakai, where Kaho moved, is the area I first lived in when I moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. Because of these special commonalities, I also included a photo of “The Tale of Kaho” in my anteater video.
